Bio

I am a Professor of mathematics, I teach at the University of Iowa; and before that I have taught at Stanford University, Aarhus University (Denmark), and at the University of Pennsylvania. I am a research mathematician,-- funding from the Natl. Sci. Foundation,-- my research papers have appeared in international scientific journals. Subjects: -- math, both pure and applied (functional analysis, operator algebras, and harmonic analysis), and applied: mathematical physics (quantum theory), engineering (signal/image processing), and statistics (Gaussian processes). I have published over 200 research papers in scientific journals, and authored more than 5 books, some research monographs. A sample of my recent research includes wavelet theory, signal and image processing, filter-banks, analysis of multi-band filters, subdivision algorithms, spectral-tile duality, scaling and fractals. For 2002 and 2006 wavelet books.

Professor Jorgensen continues to work with students and postdocs from several departments on Campus (and from other universities, including Grinnell, Washington University, Vanderbilt, LSU, UCF). At the Univ of Iowa, in addition to students from the Math Dept, Jorgensen is also mentoring students and young researchers from the departments of Statistics and Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Physics, Economics; and from several departments in the College of Engineering, and the College of Business.
