THE STAT INITIATIVE
The National Math Alliance’s Statistics Initiative is an active group of faculty mentors and graduate students from programs in the statistical sciences who are committed to building a diverse and inclusive community of faculty, students, and staff in our field.
FIRST NATIONS STATEMENT
Wherever we are on this continent, we should always remember we are on land which rightfully belongs to those who were here long before us. The Math Alliance is housed in the College of Science at Purdue University, in the Mathematical Sciences Building, and (according to native-land.ca/) this sits on land belonging to the Očhéthi Šakówin, and the Kiikaapoi (Kickapoo) peoples. The surrounding lands were the home of these two nations as well as the Peoria, Kaskaskia, the Bodéwadmiakiwen (Potawatami), and the Myaamia (Miami). We hope our work toward an inclusive profession, and an inclusive society honors these and all our First Nations.
