Bio

Joaquin completed his PhD in the summer of 2007 and specialized in differential equations and applied mathematics. After finishing his PhD, Joaquin spent the next year as a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Arizona State University. Joaquin's current interests are in the area of bifurcations; that is when a dynamical system breaks down as a certain parameter changes in value. Other interests are in the area of mathematical biology and modeling the spread of infectious diseases and ecological problems. Joaquin's work has been published in the Journal of Differential Equations,Biological Dynamics and the Discrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems Journal. He has presented his work in many conferences and workshops in USA, Puerto Rico, Mexico, China, Canada and Morocco. He is a member of the American Mathematics Society, the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and the Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science.
