Bio

Erik Insko is a native of Rockford, Illinois. As an undergraduate he attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Loras College and was a varsity athlete at both institutions. He was a Presidential Graduate Fellow at the University of Iowa and completed his Ph.D. 2012.

He is a founding member of the organizing committee for the Underrepresented Students in Topology and Algebra Research Symposium (USTARS) conference.

Dr. Insko is an Associate Professor and has been at Florida Gulf Coast University since 2012. He hopes to launch an NSF-funded Research Experiences for Undergraduates in Mathematics site hosted at FGCU in the near future.

Erik Insko's research interests include algebraic geometry, geometric topology, and combinatorics. Specifically he studies geometric properties and cohomology theories of flag varieties, combinatorics of Coxeter groups, stick numbers of knots, and various domination theories on graphs. His enjoys biking, hiking, soccer, and he has recently become an avid kayak angler since moving to Southwest Florida.
