Bio

Professor Angela Reynolds is the graduate director for the mathematics department at Virginia Commonwealth University. She received her PhD in Mathematics at University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA. Her research focuses on the role of inflammation in the wound healing and other diseases. Currently, her main projects focus on inflammation in the lung and the role of the inflammatory stage of wound healing in chronic wounds. She collaborates with mechanical and biomedical engineering and medicine to develop a multi-scale model for Ventilator-Induced Lung Injury (VILI), which accounts for inflammation triggered by mechanical ventilation. Understanding the interplay between the inflammatory and repair phases of healing is key to determining more effective treatment protocols."
