Bio

Dr. Andrés R. Vindas Meléndez is a queer, chronically-ill, Costa Rican-American mathematician raised in Lynwood, South East Los Ángeles, California. Dr. Vindas Meléndez is a first-generation college graduate having earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics at UC Berkeley, with minors in Philosophy and Chicana/Latino Studies. He went on to pursue graduate degrees in mathematics at San Francisco State University (Master’s) and the University of Kentucky (Ph.D.). While at Kentucky, he also earned a graduate certificate in Latin American, Caribbean, & Latinx Studies. He is currently an Assistant Professor at Harvey Mudd College. His research focuses on algebraic, enumerative, and geometric combinatorics and also includes quantitative justice and the scholarship of teaching & learning.
