Bio
I received a B.S. degree in mathematics from the University of Szeged, Hungary, an M.S. degree in applied mathematics from the University of Texas at Dallas, and a Ph.D. degree in mathematics from Texas Tech University, Texas, in 1989, 1994, and 1997, respectively. From 1997 to 1998, I was a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Mathematics Department at Idaho State University, Pocatello. I was an Assistant Project Scientist in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of California, San Diego from 1998 to 2002, where I worked on feedback control laws for distributed parameter systems using both theory and computations.
I joined the University of Texas-Pan American in 2002. I served as the Chair of the Mathematics Department from 2012 until 2015, when our institution became the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). Currently I am a professor in the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences of UTRGV.
My research interests include control of distributed parameter systems and computational mathematics.
I am serving as a Subject Editor for the International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control and I am a member of the Conference Editorial Board of the IEEE Control Systems Society.
My hobbies include biking, fishing, and gardening.
