Iowa State University
Mathematics Department

The
Department of Mathematics at the Iowa State University has approximately 65 doctoral students, 5 Masters students, several postdoctoral associates, and 45 tenured/track faculty members. For more information about our graduate programs, contact Director of Graduate Education
Prof. Paul Sacks.
The department is a leader in undergraduate research and early graduate research. Graduate students have the opportunity to participate in an Early Graduate Research course in their first two years. The
ISU summer REU program involves teams of undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty, regularly results in publications, and is supported both by Alliance and an NSF REU-site grant.
The Department is making serious efforts to support the national goal of a more diverse mathematical workforce, is an active participant in Alliance programs, and recently appointed
Prof. Leslie Hogben as its Director of Diversity.
